A Father’s Day Tribute: A Legacy of Spice and Love

My love for chillies began when I was just seven years old. My father was passionate about them he’d bite into whole chillies with dinner like they were nothing. Every evening, we had our own little chilli-eating contests to see who could handle the most heat. Of course, I always lost. And in classic dad fashion, he’d mischievously place the chillies I couldn’t finish on my dessert just to wind me up.

But those playful moments did more than test my tastebuds. They sparked a lifelong passion for chillies and, more importantly, created warm memories that still make me smile today.

My father was one of a kind dynamic, kind-hearted, and someone who had a rare gift for making everyone feel seen and heard. He passed away in 1989, but not a day goes by without me thinking of him. I owe him so much not just for my love of spice, but for his example of generosity, warmth, and unwavering love.

I feel incredibly lucky to have had a father like him. He’s the reason Omimos Hot Sauce exists today. Every bottle we make is inspired by his bold spirit, his playful sense of humour, and his love of good food shared with family.

So this Father’s Day, I raise a bottle to him and to all the incredible dads, grandads, stepdads, and father figures out there. You are the spice in our lives, and the heart of our families.
